Viktor Borsodi, a graduate in Gym and Physical Education of the Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute II, started experimenting with the Snowscoot during the 2000/2001 winter season. After a 10-year long hiatus from winter sports, Walter Egli, a graduate in electrical engineering from the Swiss Polytechnic Institute, decided to take Snowscoot lessons from Viktor Borsodi in March, 2004. During this encounter, the two gentlemen came up with ideas for a multifunctional sports device that folds up and can be taken apart. The concept was based on a bike fork and frame to which boards could be attached.

At that time, Alain Stoll joined the team and added his idea of using Bikeboard on water and on land.

In April, 2004, Walter Egli designed and built the first prototype incorporating Alain Stoll’s idea with a large skateboard axle with a deck for the summer sports and a wakeboard for the water sport. Viktor Borsodi successfully tested it on the snow and synergies were quickly recognized and implemented in a goal-oriented manner.

On May 27, 2004, Walter Egli and his new partner, Alain Stoll created the Bikeboard GmbH* company as the foundation for further development.

Presentations in various sports areas and meetings with many sports experts created strong approval and great interest. Based on these experiences, the team decided to proceed with a large scale launch of the Bikeboard.

Bikeboard AG was founded on January 18, 2005 and Bikeboard GmbH was sold to Bikeboard AG at a nominal value. Under the management of Walter Egli, Bikeboard AG went into production.

In October, 2006, SI Health and Fitness, Inc. created Bikeboard North America and took on the distributorship of Bikeboard in the USA. With its Head Office in Scottsdale, Arizona, the company is introducing Bikeboard Snow, Street, Offroad, and Water to resorts throughout the United States and Canada.
